About Us

Campion Renewal Center is a ministry of the USA Northeast Province of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Our primary mission is to enhance the lives of men and women of faith through a wide range of programs including retreats, days of prayer, spiritual direction, and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Campion is also a spacious conference facility available to non-profit organizations and programs consistent with our identity and mission. Among the Center’s goals are to help people discover and enter into closer union with the God who labors in love for the good for all, to foster a deep personal love for Jesus Christ, to help facilitate collaboration with laity and clergy for the benefit of the Church, and to make our resources available to those in need and to men and women of other faith traditions.

On December 3, 2014 the New England Province and the New York Province joined to form the USA Northeast Province of the Society of Jesus. By joining forces, we are better able to minister to the needs of God’s people throughout the Northeastern United States. We look forward to serving you through our continuing programs at Campion Renewal Center.

Retreats

Directed Retreats

In a directed retreat a director is assigned to each retreatant. In meeting the director each day the retreatant is aided in:

  • Noticing the reality of God’s presence and activity
  • Coming to trust what has been noticed
  • Responding to this presence and activity

Prayerful reflection, often with Sacred Scripture, in an environment of complete silence is the usual setting for this process. There is no preset pattern for a directed retreat. The director and the retreatant try to be sensitive and responsive to where the retreatant is in his or her journey with God. The director’s role is to support the retreatant in the movements of his or her journey as these movements emerge in the retreatant’s prayer. As you prepare to come for your retreat, we invite you to be open and generous in your desire to spend these days with the Lord in quiet recollection.

Private Retreats

In addition to our scheduled retreats and other programs, individuals are welcome to come to the Center to make a private retreat. A private retreat is made without a director.

Guided Retreats

We offer a number of guided weekend retreats, and you are welcome to come to any and all of them. Why not consider grouping together a number of these weekend retreats as another way of making your annual retreat?

Days of Prayer / Reflection

You are invited to attend any one or all of these days of prayer/reflection. These programs are a great way to make sure that you give yourself that “day away” you always promise yourself to help recharge your batteries!

Ignatian Spirituality Programs / Retreats

The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola are the foundation and hallmark of Ignatian spirituality, and are a great gift for the Church. As a Jesuit ministry, Campion Renewal Center takes joy in being able to make this rich heritage available to all men and women of faith. We offer a variety of programs that will hopefully meet the needs of a wide range of people interested in knowing more about Ignatian spirituality, and making the Spiritual Exercises in one of its various forms (annotations).

First, we offer an introduction to the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian Prayer (the 18th annotation retreat) in three formats: individual (one-on-one), group, and communal. If you are interested in an individual program, experienced directors are available to meet with you on a weekly basis for about 10 weeks. If you are interested in making an 18th annotation retreat along with others, please check our weekend programs listed here. Interested groups may contact the Center if interested in making a communal 18th annotation retreat. Reservations for all 18th annotation retreats must be made at least one week before the start of the retreat.

Second, experienced directors are also available to direct individuals in “The Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life” (the 19th annotation retreat). While it is usually better to begin this retreat in the early fall so that the retreat follows the flow of the liturgical year, a 19th annotation retreat may be begun at any time during the year. Most people take about 30 weeks to complete a 19th annotation retreat.

Third, the staff is also available to direct people in the Spiritual Exercises according to the 20th annotation, or the “long” or “30 day” retreat.
